Norman Y. Chambliss, III (Wake Forest) and James E. Rabil (Duke) are lifelong residents of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Norman Chambliss and Jim Rabil formed a general contracting company and commercial real estate brokerage firm in 1975. The company’s offices are located in Rocky Mount, NC, Wilmington, NC and Raleigh, NC. The construction division operates a commercial and residential building division in Wilmington and Raleigh, N.C. The commercial real estate company specializes in leasing, property management and real estate brokerage.
Chambliss & Rabil are active in the development of retail and office properties including shopping centers and office parks. Most of the company’s construction and real estate activity takes place in the eastern and central North Carolina trade areas. Chambliss and Rabil own and manage a diversified portfolio of commercial real estate that exceeds 500,000 square feet of retail, office and multi-family property. The construction divisions employ an average work force of 50 with 10 full time division/project managers. The construction division specializes in office buildings, medical facilities, coastal residences, churches, motels, food service, and retail projects. The Wilmington construction division has completed numerous coastal homes located in the Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick County trade areas.
Chambliss & Rabil Contractors’ portfolio involves a variety of medical projects including over 150 dental offices and many facilities for the eye care industry. The construction division has completed renovation projects for area hospitals and medical clinics requiring Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) compliance. The construction company is Healthcare Construction Certified through the Ashe program. Chambliss & Rabil Contractors carries an unlimited general contracting license in North Carolina (#15825). The principals of Chambliss & Rabil have significant experience in construction and real estate with over 40 years each in the two fields. Jim Rabil is a certified general real estate appraiser. Norman Chambliss served on the Rocky Mount Planning and Zoning Board for 25 years serving as chairman from 1996 through 2003. Chambliss and Rabil has established strong relationships with financial institutions, retail clients, private investors and others associated with the commercial and residential real estate industry. Both principals are active on a local and statewide level in civic, charitable and industry related organizations.
